Custom-designed Pantry
This pantry was designed to maximize
pantry space for a home lacking the area required for a walk-in pantry.
Due to the remote location of the resi-
dence for which this pantry was
designed, the owners are unable to make frequent trips to the grocery store.
Therefore, maximum pantry space was a key component in the overall design
of the kitchen plan.
The designer selected library style
shelving and by-pass frosted glass doors for this pantry. The frosted glass
doors provide adequate visibility for locating an item, yet there is enough
obscurity for a clean over- all appearance. The glass doors are sliding
ones, thereby leaving the path of travel in front of the pantry clear.
This arrangement enables one to cook at the kitchen's island while
having easy access to the pantry.
This pantry offers an excellent
example of a creative custom design pro-
viding a client's needs in an area
where space is minimal but the need for storage is maximal--a situation
often faced by innkeepers, especially when their B&B is located in
an old home where there was not a separate pantry for storage or when the
inn is located in a remote location like the property for which this pantry
was designed.
