Since visiting my first B&B in Scotland almost 40 years ago, I have experienced almost every type of bed and breakfast inn imaginable. Each of these B&Bs has contributed to the reservoir of B&B-related information I have assimilated during this time—a myriad of insights I continue to share with innkeepers when my recommendations are sought.

The criteria which determines what my rating of an inn will be ranges from hospitality to a tasty breakfast. However,  inns receiving my top rating (a "Sunflower" denoting an "Inn Extraordinaire") are inevitably the ones which portray attention-to-detail, creativity, a sense of style, high quality furnishings, tasteful decor, and qualities of uniqueness throughout the property. These same adjectives are ones I attribute to the custom-made furniture and cabinetry I have seen designed and/or built by AWD—examples of woodworking extraordinaire.

Working with a designer/fabricator with the training and experience of Harley Ashbaugh (AWD) assures me that I will get nothing less than the very best workmanship available, my specific woodworking desires will be achieved in a timely manner, the price I pay will be fair and reasonable, and I will be working with a conscientious professional who is accessible, personable, and committed to excellence in both his work ethic and the products he produces.

The before and after photographs below show how Harley Ashbaugh helped me convert a former "junk room" in my home into an attractive and functional "mini nursery" for my grandson. The wall unit (designed by Harley and built by AWD) provides a storage area/shipping center for cookbooks my daughter and I authored. As a result,  this small space is also able to function as an efficient work space for a home-based business and will add to the marketability and financial value of our home whenever we decide to sell it.

Simply put, this room was a MESS--
just trying to find the door in order
to GET OUT was a challenge! This photo was
taken after extensive cleaning had taken place
and a truck load of junk hauled off.
The space this unit provides for storage is amazing, and I love the depth and finished touch it adds to the room. The desk area will be an ideal place for my grandson to work on art projects later, have a snack, or work/play on a computer.
Later I plan to commision Harley to design a day
bed for this room (to be built by AWD, of course!) for my grandson to nap on or to curl up on while reading a good book. I no longer have to keep this room hidden behind a locked door!

NOTE: The fan blades (in photograph on far right), trashcan (under desk) and pillow in rocking chair
were hand-painted by Mary Moore, a talented artist
who specializes in replicating designs from wallpaper or fabrics
onto items to embellish the decor of a room in a distinctive and creative manner.
Mary later plans to paint a coordinating "safari rug" on the floor
and a "window looking out into a jungle" on the wall adjacent to the crib.
More information about art work offered by Moore Designs for You
will soon be available at (www.paintedfanblades.com.
